Flower Power: Green Thumb’s Open Garden Day

Open Garden Day NYC — Saturday, July 14

To help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Green Thumb, NYC Parks’ community gardens program, 75 community gardens will open their gates to the public on July 14 from 11 a.m to 3 p.m., rain or shine.  BANG gardens will participate with music, compost demonstrations, a visit to the chicken coop, a guide to beekeeping and more. 6/15 Green @ 6th Ave. and 15th St., Brooklyn

Children’s Concert — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: — The Sparrow Sisters and Brooke Dramer

Festivities — 11 a.m. to  3 p.m.:  Open Air Art Exhibit with artist Bob Hagan. 1 p.m.: Art Installation with Miguel Ayuso. 1:30 p.m.:  Printmaking Demo with Sandrine Gigon. 1:30 p.m.: Guided Meditation with Elena Tate.

Educational Series and Q&A — 2 p.m.: PlasticsUpdates & Alternatives with Makrand Bhoot. 2 p.m.: Lifestyles of Urban Bees with Jessica Katz (see photo).
